Boycott... well everyone!
So I heard that Yahoo helped China identify a 'dissident' that posted to a Yahoo pro-democracy newsgroup. I think it went something like this.

China: "Hey Yahoo. We were out looking at the pro-democracy newsgroups on your site and we think this one post is from someone in our country. Tell us who they are."

Yahoo: "Umm... well... that's not really something we can do. See, we have an obligation to the users of our site to keep their information safe from governments and those that really don't have any business knowing personal information. We really care about free-speech and believe everyone should be able to speak their minds without fear of retribution in these forums."

China: "See that coaster over on my desk? That's Google's Integrity. You're going to make yours my napkin if you want to keep your site live in China and make the $$$$ that Google does."

Yahoo: "His name is Yang and he lives at..."

So now I think it's a Damned if you do situation. Google, Yahoo, Lycos, etc. They all sold out. If I boycott everyone then how do I find anything on the Net? I guess I could write my own Crawler. I could call it Gooahoo! I can see it now. In 8 months I'll be selling out my own ideals for a piece of the pie in China. I guess in the meantime I'll go back to Google. At least they haven't gotten an innocent man thrown in jail and probably totured (yet).
